Founded as the Kansas City Scouts for the 1974-75 season, the franchise would last only two (2) seasons in Kansas City before relocating west to Colorado before the onset of the 1976-77 season, setting up shop as the Rockies. Lasting only six (6) seasons before packing up and moving East to New Jersey before the start of the 1982-83 season, the Rockies tenure in Colorado ended with the franchise posting only 113 wins in 480 games played. A desirable team for collectors to chase due to their limited time in the league, offered here is this Rockies jersey that hails from their inaugural season of 1976-77 and is attributed to have been worn by first year captain, Simon Nolet. A mesh construction offering made by Champion, a brand label displaying a size "48" designation is affixed to the inner collar while a small loop style fight strap is sewn in on the interior. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a screened on Rockies team crest, the jersey comes from a set of jerseys that was only worn by the team for a couple of games (between 8 and 10 total games combined for both the home and road shirts). Styled over the sleeves and verso with the number "17" (worn by Nolet for 52 games during the year with nobody else listed as having worn the numeral) in a dual layer white-over-red screened on style, no nameplate or evidence of a former one that was applied appears over the upper reverse, which is how these shirts were worn according to industry and hobby experts. Also sporting matching screened on alternate logo crests atop of both shoulders, the jersey shows game-wear via a large team repair over the right shoulder and a smaller one in the team crest while board burns and small unrepaired holes are present throughout the body and sleeves. Showing an additional team repair over the lower reverse and minor pilling on the interior, it also needs to be mentioned that some of the elbow reinforcement stitching on both sleeves has let go and that there may have originally been a lightly sewn down captain's "C" over the left breast which was removed for the next set of jerseys but it is unknown if there was for sure and we see no obvious evidence of its existence.
