Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

Playing out of the Omni Coliseum, the Atlanta Flames enjoyed 9 seasons in the National Hockey League, making the playoffs in all but two (2) of their years in the league. Finishing with an overall franchise record of 268-260-108 in 636 games played, the Flames relocated to Calgary for the 1980-81 season and still call the Canadian city home to this day with one (1) Stanley Cup banner hanging from their rafters. Offered here, we present this circa-1974-74 Atlanta Flames jersey attributed to have been worn by Leon Rochefort during the 1973-74 season. A heavy durene knit garment made by Rawlings, a label from the brand displaying a size "46" designation is affixed to the inner collar. Decorated over the front with a Flames team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso of the garment have had Rochefort's number "11" sewn to them in dual layer white-over-yellow tackle twill numerals. With no evidence of a nameplate ever having been sewn over the top of the reverse, the jersey exhibs just overall light game-use via a board burn over each sleeve, light stick marks over the lower front and left sleeve, unrepaired rips in the team crest and good pilling on the interior. Also displaying with light staining and discolouration throughout, a garter style fight strap is present on the interior as well as a pair of affixed third party tags. A pair of LOA's will accompany the piece including one (1) from Milt Byron of Byron's Hockeyland.
