Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, offered here is this pair of Howe offerings that hail from Parkhurt's 1954-55 hockey release, the fourth ever issued by the company and coming from a year that saw Howe and the Red Wings hoist Lord Stanley's Cup at season's end. Including both his main series and an action release, both cards display full colour action images of "Mr. Hockey" over their fronts with Howe wearing his red coloured Detroit sweater in both. Falling at #41 and #92 in the checklist of one hundred (100) total cards, both have just been received back from grading at PSA where they have been assessed marks of VG 3 and EX 5 respectively. Both showing with toning but retaining overall pleasing colours, edges and corners while also appearing crease free, both cards are housed in flawless PSA holders. Don't miss out on this pair of key Original Six offerings from hockey's golden years for your all-important collection!
