Members of the International League for parts of seven decades, the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball club began life in the late-19th century, and served as darlings of the league throughout the mid-1950s, leading the circuit in attendance every year from 1952 to 1956. This lot contains a large collection of Maple Leafs programs and material. Included, there are approx 58 programs with 3 from the 1930s including Tony Lazzeri cover, 22 from the 1940s, 22 from the 1950s, 7 from the 1960s, and 3 modern programs including a 1991 ACLS program. There is also a 1959 program signed by 13 on the cover mostly in pencil, including Pat Scantlebury, Joey Amalfitano, Don Johnson, Dave Pope, Dick Brodowski, Al Pehanick, Wade Browning, Jim King, Archie Wilson, Ron Henry, Larry Raines, Ron Negray and Bob Wilson. The lot also contains a late-1930s baseball-shaped International League Dow Old Stock Ale baseball schedule, two original 1930s/40s Alexandra Studios player photos, a 1935 Canada Starch How to Play Baseball booklet with Maple Leafs team photo, a 1961 Bee Hive Maple Leafs photo album (empty), and two late-1930s Crown Brand Leafs team photos (one is detached from it's backing, the other is missing the original backing). Most of the programs show moderate wear with some in lower grade which includes staining and water damage. A number also have writing on the covers, and are scored.
