Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Known affectionately as “The Grand Ole’ Lady of Carlton Street”, Maple Leaf Gardens stood witness to numerous sporting events and shows throughout its history, serving as the home rink for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1931 to 1999. Offered here and hailing from the hockey shrine, is this original green coloured seat that comes to the auction block from the personal collection of Phil Esposito. Void of a seat number identifier with no damage to the backrest, the seat bottom shows missing material/damage at each back corner. Also showing some small areas of paint loss/chipping, including to the metal armrests and frame, the coveted arena relic has been nicely mounted to a light coloured wooden base installed by Maple Leaf Garden Industries. A silver coloured plaque affixed to the base (which displays with some marks and abrasions) shows an image of MLG’s final season “Memories and Dreams” logo along with the serial number “30-101”. Measuring 16" wide and roughly 37" tall, is its also worth noting that there is some liquid staining on the reverse side of the backrest. All set for your Maple Leafs shrine, this MLG seat will please even the most demanding of collectors. An LOA signed by Esposito will accompany the piece.
