Known for his use of bright colours and having had his works associated with the visual arts and culture of the 1960s, particularly psychedelic art and pop art, Peter Max as been the official artist for many major events, including the 1994 World Cup, the Grammy Awards, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Super Bowl and others. Also having designed the paint scheme Dale Earnhardt drove at the Winston all-star race, deviating from Earnhardt's trademark black car and serving as the official artist of the 2000 World Series between the New York Yankees and New York Mets, offered here is this 1996 hockey themed serigraph done by Max that is appropriately titled "NHL" that was commissioned by the league for the 1996 NHL All-Star Game. Hailing from the personal collection of Phil Esposito and personalized to him by Max himself along the bottom with "To Phil", the piece is serial numbered "100/100" at the bottom left corner and is signed by Max at the bottom right hand corner as well. Depicting a player and goalie in Max's familiar brightly coloured style, the artwork measures roughly 33" x 26" and is displayed under a simple black coloured matte. Housed in a simple black frame that shows some light wear throughout, full dimensions measure out to roughly 40" x 32". Hailing from Esposito's personal collection, the piece comes accompanied by his signed LOA.
