Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
His sophomore season in the National Hockey League after being drafted 1st overall by the Edmonton Oilers at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Connor McDavid would register his first 100-point season in 2016-17, netting 30 goals and 70 assists in 82 contests, enough for the coveted Art Ross Trophy as the league’s highest scorer. Leading Edmonton to an appearance in the second round of the National Hockey League Playoffs that season, offered here is this photo-matched stick used by Connor during the second round of the 2017 NHL Playoffs against the Anaheim Ducks. A CCM SuperTacks model twig with "McDavid" factory graphics over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of orange cloth-over-white on the handle/knob and white wrapped around the entirety of the blade. Displaying Connor's number "97" over the white tape on the upper shaft in black marker ink, factory serial number and barcode stickers are still found on the underside of the shaft. Signed by McDavid over the forehand side of the heel with a silver marker ink signature that displays without issue, the stick shows light game-use overall with a handful of marks and abrasions present throughout the shaft, lower shaft and heel with puck marks over both sides of the blade tape as well. Also sporting tears to the forehand side and top edge of the blade tape, the stick has been photo-matched with Getty Image #681728658 (May 10th, 2017 vs Anaheim - 2017 Western Conference Semi-Finals - Game 7) to the "97" over the tape while Getty Image #681721598 from the same game has been matched to various puck marks over the forehand side of the blade and the black mark through the "M" in CCM at the bottom of the stick on the forehand side. Having had a MeiGray hologram numbered "MGA005859" affixed to the top of the underside of the shaft, a matching MeiGray LOA will accompany the piece.
