The record holder for the most goals in a season by a defensemen, Paul Coffey is second only to Ray Bourque for career goals, assists and points. Having registered a total of 1531 points during a career that saw him play in 1409 career games split between nine (9) different National Hockey League franchises, Coffey would win three (3) Norris Trophy's as the league's best defenceman and a quartet of Stanley Cup championships. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, offered here is this stick used by Coffey as a member of the Edmonton Oilers in the mid-1980s. A Sher-Wood P.M.P 5030 model twig with "Coffey 7" stamped to the upper shaft, the number is repeated once again, having been penned to the upper shaft in blue marker ink. Retaining its original tape job of black over the handle and knob, most of the original white tape covering the blade has been removed to facilitate Coffey's black marker ink signature over the forehand side near the toe which displays well and with only light fading. Additionally, Coffey has added an annotation reading "Good Luck" in matching ink that displays in the same condition. With the foil accent sticker over the bottom of the shaft showing wear, the stick itself shows heavy game-wear with numerous dark and coloured marks over the length of the shaft, lower shaft and heel while the remaining blade tape shows puck marks over both sides. Additionally, some small abrasions are observed as well.
