Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

A Hart Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, Calder Memorial Trophy, and three-time Stanley Cup winner, Evgeni Malkin has been a force to be reckoned with since joining the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2006. A Conn Smythe winner in 2009, and a key cog in the Penguins' back-to-back Stanley Cup championship runs in 2016 and 2017, Malkin has cemented himself as one of the greatest Russian players to lace up the skates. Having played a total of 1145 games in the National Hockey League in his career thus far, all of which have been in the uniform of the Penguins, Malkin has also won a pair of IIHF World Championship gold medals with his native Russia, happening in 2012 and 2014. Offered here, we present this stick used by Malkin during the 2011-12 season. An Easton RS model rendered in a sleek black color scheme with subtle gray and yellow accents, "71 Gino" factory graphics are displayed over the upper shaft. Retaining its original tape job of black over the handle/knob and white over the blade, "Gino" has signed over the forehand side of the blade with a blue marker ink signature that displays well and without issue. Displaying light game-wear via a handful of marks and abrasions over the shaft and lower shaft, the blade tape shows puck marks over both sides as well.
