Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Paced by the key first year cardboard of Mario Lemieux, the only player capable of holding a candle to Wayne Gretzky during the era, up for grabs here is this complete 264-card assembly of O-Pee-Chee’s 1985-86 hockey release. Found to be in an overall high-grade condition range of EX-MT to NM, the aforementioned Lemieux rookie card has been inspected and slabbed by PSA where they deemed it worthy of a high-grade NM-MT 8 designation. For the key cards, those found to be in the previously mentioned condition neighbourhood include the likes of 29-Yzerman, 40-Bourque, 85-Coffey, 110-Lindberg, 120-Gretzky, 177-Messier, 237-MacInnis RC (slightly off-center), 257-Gretzky GL, 258-Gretzky AL, 259-Gretzky SL and of course, 262-Lemieux RSL to round out the notables. With the set sporting an overall light humidity curve throughout its entirety and the other star players found within the checklist found to be in a condition that is consistent with the cards listed above, it is also worth noting for accuracy that the PSA holder housing the desirable Lemieux rookie card is in a condition as nice as the card inside it and that the set's two (2) checklist cards, #165 and #256, are both in their original unmarked state. Additionally, there are two (2) copies of card #49 that pictures Mike Krushelnyski over the front while card #231, the rookie card of Bruce Bell is damaged. A fabulous trip down memory lane featuring examples of some of the best players to ever lace up the skates in the NHL, don’t let this one pass your or your all-important vintage collection by!
