Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Containing such treasures as hockey's only square puck, used in the first organized game in Kingston in 1886, and hockey's oldest jersey from Queen's University (1894), the International Hockey Hall of Fame in Kingston was founded by the National Hockey League and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association on September 10, 1943. This rare International Hockey Hall of Fame Kingston Constitution booklet was issued by the famous Hall in 1944, and it appears to have been originally owned by Merv Red Dutton - HOFer and the NHL's second president! At 4 1/2" x 6 1/4", the 20 page booklet lists the articles of the Hall's constitution. ARTICLE II mentions that this constitution was drafted in January of 1944, so this would have been the first constitution booklet issued by the Hall. "M. Dutton" is handwritten on the cover, with this appearing to be his personal copy. The booklet is in fabulous condition with no issues other than a small crease to the cover and tape residue along the inside back cover's border, as the booklet was original taped within a folder.
