Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Paying homage to the team’s first alternate jerseys from 1995-96, the Anaheim Ducks brought back the famous single season jersey retooled for the 2020-21 season as part of the NHL and Adidas’ “Reverse Retro” program. Worn by the Ducks on March 16th, 2021 vs the Colorado Avalanche, we offer this “Reverse Retro” alternate captain's jersey worn by Kevin Shattenkirk during the 2nd period of play. "56" sizing appears across the Adidas collar band, with NHL and Adidas crests to the front and reverse necklines respectively. Styled with the Wild Wing logo from 1996, "22" is sewn to the sleeves and verso in stylized and layered tackle twill, with alternate crests to each shoulder. We should note that the jersey has "Shattenkirk" arching directly over the reverse of the jersey, with the NHL Uniform Database noting this appeared on jerseys only during the first time they were worn that season, on March 16th. The second time the jerseys were worn on April 24th, the club had switched to a nameplate, with the name straight across the plate. There is no noticeable wear to the jersey other than a single small dark mark as well as a faint burn mark, both on the right sleeve. The team patch and bar code reside on the inside hem, and it denotes the year along with "Reverse Retro Jersey" and "Set #2". An LOA from the Ducks will accompany.
