Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
A hero for the Montreal Canadiens in the team’s very first game, Skinner Poulin scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Canadiens edged Cobalt 7-6 on January 5, 1910. Known as the "bad boy" of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association and a veteran of fifty-three (53) National Hockey Association games, all of which were played with Montreal, offered here is this copy of Poulin's 1911-12 Imperial Tobacco C55 hockey card that has been graded by KSA. Displaying an artistic posed rendering of the hard hitting forward over the front of the card that appears well centered upon first gaze, the card also retains good colours for its age while showing wear to the edges, corners (which are rounded) and surface as well. Displaying a mark of VG 3 over the label at the top of the holder, the holder shows light wear via scratches and scuffs over both sides that are worth noting for accuracy. Of note, the card is not Poulin's rookie card as noted at the bottom of the label.
Additionally, please be aware that the grading standards followed by ACA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
