Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Serving as the primary developmental league of the NHL, the American Hockey League was formed in 1936 as the I-AHL when the Canadian-American Hockey League and International Hockey League - both then short on member-clubs - decided to play an interlocking schedule, with the league re-christened the AHL after the 1939-40 season with teams in the league to this day veying to hoist the Calder Cup at seasons end. Offered here, we present this AHL referee's jersey worn by John Galipeau during the mid-to-late-1990s. Made by Bauer, ProWear and size "46" labeling are affixed to the inner collar while Bauer logos have been embroidered to the right side of the collar and reverse hem with the latter joined by an AHL league patch as well. Decorated over the left breast on the front with a large American Hockey League crest, both sleeves sport orange referee arm bands that have been sewn on with a few stitches at four (4) points on each arm. Blank on the reverse and overall showing just light wear throughout, the piece remains in beautiful condition with just a couple of spot stains over the sleeves and reverse and would make a healthy addition to any jersey collection.
