Presented in Moscow to eight members of Team Canada’s 1972 Summit Series squad in September of 2017 as part of the Russian Museum of Hockey’s opening of a major exhibit titled “World Hockey Classic: USSR – Canada” - we have a “45th Anniversary” 14K gold and diamond ring that was made for and presented to Phil Esposito, who joined former 1972 teammates Pat Stapleton, Don Awrey, Jocelyn Guevremont, Dennis Hull, Brad Park, Wayne Cashman, Pete Mahovlich, Frank Mahovlich and Red Berenson at the event along with Russian players like Vladislav Tretiak, Alexander Yakushev, Alexander Gusev and Boris Mikhailov. Size 13 1/2 with an approximate weight of 23 grams and constructed of 14K white gold, Canadian and Russian enamel flags sits centralized within a sea of small diamonds divided by a string of 8 rubies, encompassed by “USSR – 1972 – Canada – 2017”. Fifty Sapphires also border the plateau. Each shank feature’s raised symbols for each country (hammer & sickle and maple leaf), with a hollow band with “Super Series” along with “USSR – 1972-2017 – Canada”. Two hallmarks are also present over the inner edge, with the original presentation box included as well. Displaying just very minor wear on some spots of the ring and displaying beautifully, the interior of the presentation box shows some wear as well that is worth mentioning for accuracy. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Esposito will accompany the piece.
