The youngest winner of the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender as an 18-year-old rookie in 1984, Tom Barasso is the also youngest NHL netminder to ever be awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy. A native of Boston, Massachusetts who was drafted directly out of high-school 5th overall by the Buffalo Sabres at the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, Barrasso would go on to a National Hockey League career that would see him play in a total of 777 games with Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Carolina, Toronto and St. Louis. Named an inductee of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023, offered here is this stick used by Barrasso early on in his career as a member of the Buffalo Sabres. A Cooper SuperPro-Lite model twig in Buffalo's blue and white colourway with a largely intact foil accent sticker still wrapped around the bottom of the paddle, "Barrasso" factory graphics appear over the upper shaft while his number "30" is penned underneath in thick black marker ink. Retaining its original tape job of white-over-black on the handle/knob and white around the blade, the vintage lumber displays with good game-use including wear to the blue graphics throughout, puck marks over both sides of the blade tape, various marks and abrasions, small amounts of red post paint transfers over the upper shaft and blade tape, tears to the blade tape and a small dent/crack to the top edge of the blade near the heel.
