A veteran of 128 National Hockey League games as a member of the Detroit Red Wings between between 1947-48 and 1950-51, Max McNab would register a total of sixteen (16) goals and nineteen (19) assists for thirty-five (35) total points while also playing in another twenty-five (25) playoff games over that period as well. A Stanley Cup champion with the Red Wings in 1950 after knocking off the New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup Finals, offered here is this collection of vintage and modern Detroit Red Wings items hailing from McNab's personal collection. Paced by a solid group of vintage items that includes various vintage Red Wings postcards of McNab as well as others including Tommy Ivan, Sid Abel and Red Kelly, also present in the contingent of items from yesteryear include a letter on Detroit Hockey Club letterhead tied out to McNab from Fred Pinkney, a 1949 Turofsky posed photo of McNab signed by him to his mom and dad while the Turofsky stamp is present on the reverse, a large bundle of newspaper clippings that date from the Fall of 1948 plus the Spring of 1949, a vintage 1949-50 press photo of McNab taken during a game against the Bruins (glue on the reverse), a 1945-46 Colorado College program from matches against Saskatchewan University with McNab in the lineup (torn on top of back cover), a 1948-49 press photo taken during a game against the Montreal Canadiens that features a press stamp on the reverse as well as an additional one reading "Apr 5 1949", a vintage Red Wings team photo (glue/paper residue on the reverse), a program from an all-star exhibition game between the Montreal Canadiens and NHL All-Stars, including names such as Turk Broda, Max Bentley and Ted Lindsay, that took place on either May 2nd, 3rd or 5th 1947 and has McNab pencilled into the lineup, a program from an exhibition game between the Cleveland Barons and Red Wings in Winnipeg, with the back cover signed by McNab and the front cover listing the year as "1947-1948" and finally, a pair of January 1950 Red Wings Olympia programs that show McNab and Ted Lindsay on individual covers, with Lindsay having signed his with a modern blue marker ink signature that displays without issue and includes an HHOF 66 inscription. Of note, everything listed above shows varying degrees of wear including creasing, pen and pencil marks, small tears, surface wear, staining and toning that is worth mentioning for accuracy. For the rest of the lot, included are modern photos of McNab with the cup as well as a few signed items, a reproduction copy of the 1947 "Who's Who in Hockey", a 1957 issue of Sports Illustrated showing Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay on the front cover, a copy of Stan Fischler's book "Motor City Muscle" that has been signed and personalized to McNab inside the front cover, a replica 8" Stanley Cup that has a Red Wings medallion embedded into the front, a modern pro on-ice Red Wings jersey made by Reebok that has been customized with McNab's number "10", the number he wore in both 1947-48 and 1948-49 and of course more including more modern photos of the 1949-50 Red Wings, a copy of the game sheet from Game 7 of the 1950 Stanley Cup Finals and three (3) other books either signed by McNab or personalized to him by the authors on the interior. A fabulous lot of items from one of hockey's great minds, a McNab Family LOA will accompany the collection.
