Spending his junior career in the OHA as a member of the St. Catharines Teepees, leading the club to a Memorial Cup championship in 1960, Roger Crozier would go on to play a total of 518 National Hockey League games over the course of his 14-year NHL career, suiting up for the Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals over that time. Named the Calder Memorial Trophy winner in 1965 and notably the first winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy to play for the team that was on the losing end of the Stanley Cup Finals, occuring in 1966, offered here is this Buffalo Sabres jersey worn by Crozier during the early-1970s, specifically during either the 1970-71 or 1971-72 seasons. A durene material construction garment made by General Athletic, their partially dethatched and washed out brand label is affixed inside the reverse hem while both Dick Fischer Athletic Goods and size "46" labels are affixed to the inner collar. A classic tie-up style garment with the original white tipped yellow lace fed through the eyelets, this is found only on Buffalo jerseys that hail from their first two (2) seasons in the NHL based on research and cross-referencing with images from those years. Styled over the front with a familiar Buffalo team crest in layered tackle twill that also sports embroidered details, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Crozier's number "1" in dual layer yellow-over-white tackle twill numerals. Showing no evidence of a nameplate ever having been attached to the upper reverse for TV games and void of any sort of fight strap on the interior, the jersey displays good wear for a goalie jersey of this era via pilling at both armpits on the exterior and both cuffs from rubbing against Crozier's goalie gloves while puck marks are found over the lower front and right sleeve. Also showing numerous fabric runs over the front and right cuff, including a large one over the front right, sweat and spot stains are also present throughout, heaviest at the cuffs and around the collar while pilling is also observed on the interior as well.
