The cream of the crop in the National Hockey League during the 1948-49 regular season, the Detroit Red Wings finished the sixty (60) game campaign with a standings topping record of 34-19-7 and made a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Toronto Maple Leafs after defeating the Montreal Canadiens four (4) games to three (3) in their Semi-Finals battle royal. Honoured for their efforts during the year by the franchise with these elegant silver plated pitchers at year's end, offered here is this one that was presented to Max McNab that hails from his personal collection. Measuring approximately 7 3/4" in height with a diameter of roughly 4", the front of the piece has been engraved with ""Detroit Hockey Club Inc - Champions NHL 1948-1949 - Maxwell McNab". A barrel style design that is heavily embossed around the rim at the top, the pour spout sports the face of a bearded man. Stamped with S.P. Cooper” (meaning silver plated over copper) and “Sheffield Reproduction” for pattern and model on the underside of the piece along with three (3) other hallmarks, the pitcher remains in excellent condition overall with light scratching seen throughout the entirety of the surface and just very light tarnishing in a couple of areas. A special piece through and through, an LOA from the McNab Family will accompany the piece.
