Attractive pairing of original vintage Formula One posters from races in 1979 and 1980 at the famed Watkins Glen International in New York State.
The 1979 poster measures approximately 19 1/2" x 36 7/8" and shows an illustration of legendary Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve leading the pack in his #12 Ferrari, followed closely by Andretti in his #1 Lotus, with pictures at the top of Villeneuve, Andretti, Scheckter, Jones, Laffite, and Lauda. This poster came factory folded and sports fold lines, with some toning and staining to the reverse, with light spots showing through the front on some areas. The poster also has a very small tear at the junction of the upper factory fold lines and has numerous fold lines, but which mostly only show on the back of the poster and are hard to notice on the front.
The 1980 poster measures approximately 16 3/4" x 32 3/4" and also has a race illustration which is showing Alan Jones forefront in his #27 Williams, during his 1980 Championship season, with Gilles Villeneuve and others in the background. There are pictures at the top of Villeneuve, Andretti, Laffite, Jones, Piquet, and Scheckter. There is some minor edge wear to report and a few light small folds in the corners areas with a small piece missing to the lower left corner.
Villeneuve, inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 1993, would die in a collision during the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Both of these great posters herald the Toyota Grand Prix from Oct. 7, 1979 and Oct. 5, 1980, and would look simply stunning in frames.
Also included are tickets from the 1977 (4), 1978 (1) and 1980 (6) Toyota Grand Prix of the United States with all tickets in very nice condition except for the 1978 example which has creases and a small piece missing.
