Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

A cultural landmark event that reinforced Canada’s hockey supremacy, the 1972 Summit Series featured the best the mighty maple leaf could muster, taking on a strong, disciplined Soviet squad that were a formidable match for any team. This lot includes the small, seldom-seen Canada-CCCP banner (approximately 4” x 6 1/2”) which is believed to have been presented to members of Team Canada prior to games held on Russian soil during the Summit Series. The mini pennant lists the dates of the games of the series along with the names of both nations on each side of a pair of hockey sticks and a puck, with flags for each nation placed along the top. The banner has a long fold line in its top area, has small, dot-size stains, on various areas and has small light folds and wear spots on its lower right corner but overall displays very nicely and has fresh and strong colors.
Next is a vintage round unused sticker from Canada Dry which features a Canadian flag with the expression “A Friendly Canadian” also appearing on the top of the sticker in Russian. The sticker has a diameter of approximately 4 1/2" and most likely was to be worn by Canadian fans attending the games in Moscow. The sticker has a material-like finish, and it exhibits light wear to its edges/corners and a few minor folds and overall remains in very nice condition.
Completing this neat lot is a vintage unused Labatt sticker with French text which has an approximate diameter of 3 1/2" inches and remains in almost like-new condition.
