A veteran of twenty-two (22) Major League Baseball seasons with the likes of the Houston Colt 45's/Astros, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics, Joe Morgan would win back-to-back World Series championships with the Reds in 1975 and 1976 and was also named the National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) in each of those years. Considered one of the greatest second basemen of all time and named to ten (10) MLB All-Star Games, Morgan would also win five (5) Gold Glove Awards and a Silver Slugger Award. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990, offered here is this bat used by Morgan between the period of 1980-83. A Louisville Slugger made offering with "Genuine M253", Morgan's signature and "Louisville Slugger" branded into the barrel, the brand's logo appears in similar fashion farther down the bat also. Sporting a crack in the handle and a good layer of pine tar in the same area, the bat measures 34 1/2" in length and weighs 32.2 ounces. Signed by Morgan over the barrel with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue and includes an inscription reading "75-76 NL MVP" in matching ink that displays in the same condition, the bat exhibits tremendous use through numerous ball marks, stitch marks, black ink transfers, cleat marks and red bat rack marks as well and has had the model number "RJ44" stamped on to the knob. With Morgan's number "8" also penned over the knob in black marker ink, the bat has been given a grade of GU9 by PSA and is accompanied by their Letter of Grading and Authenticity.
