Still widely regarded as one of, if not the best baseball player of all-time, Babe Ruth would play a total of twenty-two (22) seasons in the Major Leagues from 1914 to 1935, suiting up for the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Boston Braves over that time. Nicknamed the "Sultan of Swat" and bashing 714 home runs in his career, Ruth would win the World Series a total of seven (7) times over the course of his career and become a larger than life figure for the game, with Yankee Stadium being dubbed "The House That Ruth Built". Regarded as one of the greatest sports heroes in American culture, in 1936, Ruth was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of its "first five" inaugural members.
Heir apparent to the great modern masters of photorealist portraiture, Adam Port first burst on the art scene back in 2000 when he was discovered by a New York Knicks photographer and quickly earned a prestigious licensing agreement with the NBA. Today Port reigns as one of the nation’s premier artists, with a clientele that has included other influential entities like the Basketball Hall of Fame and Elvis Presley Enterprises, along with A-list stars like Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, and Ray Lewis. A graduate of Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts, Port has perfected his trademark technique of using acrylic paint and colored pencil on board to create breathtakingly life-like portraits.
Offered here, we present this piece done by Port titled "Babe Ruth Swinging". Depicting Ruth and his mighty home run power cut of a swing during a contest at Yankee Stadium, the all-time Yankee great is seen admiring the path of the ball with his patented Louisville Slugger in his hands and pinstripe Yankees uniform on body. Originally completed in September of 2011 and purchased for an original price of $9,560.00, the piece is done in a medium of acrylic paint and coloured pencil on gessoed illustration board. Measuring out to a width of 40" and a height of 30", the piece has been framed to full dimensions of 52 1/2" tall and 42 1/2" wide and is housed in simple black frame under a single layer white matte. Showing a bit of wear to the corners and edges of the frame and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, don't miss out on this stunning one of a kind piece for your all-important collection!
