Born on the east coast of Canada and playing his junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals of the OHA, Greg Malone would be drafted by the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins (19th overall) and WHA's Indianapolis Racers (76th overall) in their respective 1976 drafts and would choose the route of the National Hockey League, going on to a career that would span a total of 704 games with Pittsburgh, Hartford and Quebec. Hired by the Penguins for their scouting department after retiring and winning Stanley Cup's in 1991 and 1992, offered here is this stick issued to Malone during his rookie season of 1976-77 that has been signed by approximately fourteen (14) members of that years Penguins squad. A Sher-Wood PMP 5052 model offering with "12 Malone" penned to the upper shaft in black marker that has faded a bit with age, the stick has never been taped over either the handle/knob or blade and sports a pair of mostly intact foil accent stickers around the shaft. Remaining in overall good condition but showing wear to the graphics on the topside of the shaft as well as a handful of marks and abrasions from handling and age that are heaviest on the blade, it is worth noting that the wood is quite dry. For the autographs, all penned over the forehand side in blue marker ink that displays well despite some showing bunching and a small bit of fading, those that have signed the stick include; Syl Apps, Stan Gilbertson, Don Awrey, Bob Kelly, Ron Schock, Ed Van Impe, Dennis Owchar and others.
