Winning 208 games and losing 149 over the course of a 14-year career pitching for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago White Sox, Eddie Cicotte become infamous as one of the eight White Sox players involved in the conspiracy to throw the 1919 World Series - forever immortalized as the "Black Sox Scandal". This rare original circa-1910s photo of Cicotte by famous photographer Paul Thompson has been deemed a Type I by PSA/DNA. At approx 6 1/2" x 8 1/2", Cicotte is pictured in his White Sox uniform, with hands on hips. On the reverse there is a purple stamp from Paul Thompson, with "Cicotte Chicago Am" handwritten in pencil, with a "The Ring Inc" stamp above. The photo shows just light wear, with a strip of clear tape visible along the top border, and a small piece to the bottom reverse of the photo. This is a must item for any "Black Sox" collection. An LOA from PSA/DNA will accompany.
