Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The 1st overall pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Sidney Crosby has played in over 1200 National Hockey League games since his career began, every one of them in the black and gold uniform of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Owning a trophy case that includes numerous awards such as a trio of Stanley Cup championships, a pair of Olympic gold medals, two (2) Art Ross Trophies, two (2) Hart Trophies, and two (2) Conn Smythe Trophies along with many others, offered here is this pair of gloves worn by Crosby during the era of the late-2000s, with this model dating to either the 2008-09 or 2009-10 seasons of play. Reebok made gauntlets in Pittsburgh's then black and sport gold colour way, "Penguins" and "87" identifiers have been embroidered into the wrist guards of each glove while Reebok logos have been embroidered into both cuffs and thumbs. Likely practice models based on the lack of a number in the palms and the fact that a portion of the sport gold has been blacked out with marker ink, "Sid the Kid" has signed over the wrist guards of both gloves with silver marker ink signatures that display well and without issue. Measuring 14" and having had Frameworth holograms placed near each of Crosby's signatures, the gloves show use via rubbing in each palm, which is heaviest in the right one, as well as a couple of light marks over the backside of the left glove and are accompanied by a matching Frameworth COA.
