Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

Originally nicknamed "Charlie" after Charles Manson during the early part of his career in St Louis by teammate Brian Sutter due to his aggressive play and supposed resemblance, Doug Gilmour's nickname eventually morphed into "killer", and it stuck throughout his career. A veteran of 1474 National Hockey League games who won a Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames in 1989, offered here is this stick used by Gilmour as a member of the Blackhawks in the late-1990s. A Hespeler 5500 model twig with "Killer B" stamped in white over the upper shaft, an additional stamp reading "115-120 Stiff" is found in matching style over the topside of the lower shaft as well. Retaining its original tape job of now-yellowed-white over the handle/knob and black wrapped around the blade, the virtually straight blade stick displays light game-use over the shaft and lower shaft in the form of a small handful of marks and abrasions while puck marks are observed over both sides of the blade tape as well. Additionally, Gilmour has signed the forehand side of the lower shaft with a silver marker ink signature that displays without issue.
