Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Born on opposite sides of the world but both finding themselves patrolling the blue line of the Buffalo Sabres at the same time, Casey Nelson and Rasmus Ristolainen would suit up in Buffalo's blue and yellow colours to the tune of 635 National Hockey League games respectively. Offered here, we present this pair of sticks wielded by Nelson and Ristolainen during their time with the Sabres. CCM Ribcore (Nelson) and Bauer Nexus 2N (Ristolainen) models that were used during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, both sticks retain their original tape jobs over the handles/knobs and blades with the Nelson having had an "8" penned to the bottom of the handle tape in black marker and the Ristolainen finished at the bottom with clear. Of note, the Nelson stick has a Sabres store price tag affixed over the forehand side of the upper shaft as well. Both sporting good game-use, each stick shows various marks and abrasions throughout the length of their shafts as well as over the lower shafts, heels and on both sides of the blade tape of each stick as well. Additionally, the Ristolainen stick sports a tear to the blade tape on the forehand side while the Nelson twig has a heavy coating of stick wax added to both sides of its blade tape that is worth mentioning for accuracy.
