One of the most successful American-born goaltenders, Mike Richter enjoyed over a dozen seasons in Manhattan, winning a Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994. The Pennsylvania native was also a major thorn in the side of Canadians, earning MVP status while winning gold at the 1996 World Cup. Offered here, we present this stick used by Richter as a member of the New York Rangers during the 1999-2000 season that has been dated and photo-matched to New York's November 11th, 1999 win against the Washington Capitals in which Richer posted 30 saves in the 5-4 overtime victory. A Bauer Composite Super Pro R5000 model twig in New York's familiar red, white and blue colours, "Richter" is stamped to the upper shaft. Retaining its original tape job of black finished in white over the knob and white around the handle plus blade, the handle tape over the upper shaft has had a date reading "11/11/99" penned to it in black marker ink. Sporting an accent sticker wrapped around the hand grip, the stick exhibits good game-wear throughout its entirety via puck marks over both sides of the blade tape, paddle and upper shaft, red post paint transfer marks over both sides of the blade tape, the top edge of the paddle on the forehand side and the reverse side of the upper shaft, tears/cuts to the blade tape on the forehand side and underside of the blade near the heel and lastly various other marks and abrasions. Also showing darkening to the tape over the handle and light wear to the graphics, the stick has been photo-matched to the game it is dated as being from with Getty Image #72570730 (November 11th, 1999 vs Washington) to the tear and cut of the blade tape on the forehand side near the toe, the red post paint transfer marks near the top edge of the blade tape on the forehand side and lastly, marks through both the "B" and "R" in "Bauer" on the forehand side of the paddle.
