One of the greatest players to ever grace the ice of the National Hockey League after playing his junior hockey with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League, Steve Yzerman would spend his entire career wearing the red and white colours of the Detroit Red Wings, registering over 1,700 points including almost 700 goals over that time period and helping lead Detroit to three (3) Stanley Cup Championships. Also donning the red and white of Team Canada on numerous occasions during his career, including a trio of IIHF World Championships, the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympic Games and 1984 Canada Cup, Yzerman would also dress for the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, with this photo-matched jersey being offered here worn by him during the tournament. A Bauer made offering that features size "56" and "ProWear" labeling affixed to the inner collar, a Bauer logo patch is sewn over the right breast with the all-important 1996 World Cup of Hockey event patch having been added below that. Decorated over the front of the garment with a familiar Hockey Canada team crest that features embroidered details throughout, logos of matching style have been sublimated into the material of the jersey over both shoulders. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Yzerman's number "19" in dual layer red-over-black tackle twill numerals, "Yzerman" has been spelt out in single layer red twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Having had both the body and sleeves shortened at the hem and cuffs to Yzerman's liking, the jersey displays with good game-wear including stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves and blue coloured board paint transfer marks over the left sleeve. Also having been signed by Yzerman over the front with a beautiful black marker ink signature that displays without issue, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #224219 (September 7th, 1996 vs Sweden - 1996 WCOH Semi-Finals) to the stick mark to the left of the "1" on the left sleeve and the board paint transfer marks to the right of the "9" on the left sleeves. Additionally, the jersey is also matched with Getty Image #50822812 (September 7th, 1996 vs Sweden - 1996 WCOH Semi-Finals) to the long stick mark to the left of the "Y" in "Yzerman" on the reverse.
