This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/1/2024
Regarded as the "Golden Era" of the National Hockey League, taking place between 1942 and 1967, the era of the "Original Six", featuring the six (6) teams of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers would produce numerous Hockey Hall of Fame inductees, including some of the best players the game has ever seen. With Montreal winning ten (10) of twenty-five (25) Stanley Cups during the era, the Maple Leafs would hoist the trophy nine (9) times and Detroit five (5), with the last won by the Black Hawks, their lone victory coming in 1961. Loaded with talent, offered here we present this vintage early-1960s NHL "Original Six" teams signed autographs booklet that features 60+ signatures from the era. A brown coloured little book measuring roughly 5" x 3.5" with "Autographs" appearing over the front over, the former owners name is penned over the cover as well in blue pen ink that has faded heavily with age. Showing wear to the spine and featuring coloured pages on the interior, most of the pages have autographs penned on both sides of them with mostly all having been done in blue pen ink (ballpoint and fountain) and displaying well despite some light fading on some from age. For the autographs, the list of Hall of Fame inductees no longer with us includes the signatures of; Harvey, Plante, Blake, Howe, Hull, Mikita, Hall, Howell, Gadsby, Worsley, Imlach (2), Armstrong, Bower, Horton, Stanley, Olmstead, Flaman, Pronovost, Johnson, H. Richard, Moore, Beliveau, Geoffrion, Boivin, Pilote and Arbour (builder) while also present are still living HOFers.; Bucyk, Delvecchio, Ullman, Keon and F. Mahovlich. Of note, most of the autographs listed have signatures penned on the opposite side of the same page that they are found on and it is worth mentioning that there is a Terry Sawchuk inscription inside the front cover but it is believed to have been done by someone other than Terry. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
