Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Registering on the game sheet for his tripping infraction at 18:37 of the first period, iconic blueliner Tim Horton played his final NHL game for Buffalo on February 20, 1974, with the opposition fittingly his former Toronto Maple Leafs. Horton would sadly pass later that evening at approx 4:30 am when his Pantera sportscar crashed on the Queen Elizabeth Way near St. Catharines, Ont. A four-time Stanley Cup champion and six-time All-Star, Horton would receive enshrinement within the Hall of Fame in 1977. This Maple Leaf Gardens program was produced for the Feb 20, 1974 match vs Buffalo. Complete including the now-detached roster center-fold, the historic 48-page program exhibits expected handling wear, including to the covers and along the spine, with the interior pages showing just very light toning. There is also a coupon that has been cut out from one of the pages.
