Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, offered here is this "Locker Room Collection" card of Howe from Leaf/In The Game's 2015-16 "In The Game Used" release. Displaying an image of a young Howe over the left side of the card on the front, silver foil accents are found throughout while a total of four (4) swatches of wool/twill cut from a Red Wings jersey that was once worn in the NHL by Howe have been embedded into the front of the card, with two (2) of the four (4) being multi-colour examples. Displaying a silver foil serial number reading "02/25" along the right edge on the front and showing the same image of Howe that is seen over the front on the reverse as well, the seldom seen and esteemed offering remains in its original raw ungraded form and shows small amounts of wear/dings to all four (4) corners, which is heaviest at the two (2) right side points.
