Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The first player to reach the 500 goal mark in his National Hockey League career, Maurice Richard would also become the first man to register 50 goals in 50 games. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961 upon the conclusion of a career that saw him win eight (8) Stanley Cup championships as well as a Hart Trophy in 1947, "The Rocket" was also the first non-politician to be given a state funeral by the province of Quebec upon his passing in 2000. Still regarded as one of the most important French Canadians in history as well as one of the greatest NHL players of all-time, offered here is this "Blade Runners" memorabilia card of Richard that was released as part of Leaf/In The Game's 2016-16 Superlative product. Featuring an action image of Richard at the left side of the card, which has been accented with silver foil throughout, a swatch cut from a skate worn by Richard during his career that sports leather as well an eyelet has been embedded into the front of the card. Displaying a serial number reading "6/7" in silver foil near the top left hand corner, the card is found in its original ungraded form and remains in excellent condition with no obvious flaws visible when observed with the naked eye.
