Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Serious Bee Hive collectors, along with Toronto Maple Leafs aficionados, will be excited with the chance to score this scarce tie clip picturing legendary blue and white star and the individual considered the greatest face-off man in history, Ted Kennedy, that was originally offered through a mail-in promotion. The hockey stick tie clips joined rings and pins in a two-year promotion launched in 1949 by the St. Lawrence Starch Company, already popular and famous then for its Bee Hive photos. The gilt-lacquered stick measure 3" long and exhibits minor scuffing to the stick and to the 3/4" Lucite dome. The tie clips, rings and pins were all available back in the day for 25 cents each, along with a product label or box top from the Port Credit, Ontario company. A coveted, seldom offered piece, the fabulous find will greatly enhance a Bee Hive/Rocket Richard shrine!
