Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Competing in the OHA Senior A league for just over a decade from 1947 to 1957, the Owen Sound Mercurys were quite dominant during their tenure, winning the league title twice in four seasons along with capturing the Allan Cup championship as the best senior club in the country in 1951. This medal was presented to Charles Blackwell for the Mercurys status as J. Ross Robertson Cup champions in 1951. Shield-shaped at 1" x 1 1/4", a raised generic player graces the front along with "OHA" and an enamel Ontario province coat of arms (some wear). The reverse has "Owen Sound Mercurys", "Senior A Champions 1951" and "Chas. Blackwell" engraved, along with "Trophy Craft Gold Filled" stamped. Showing light wear overall, the vintage medal celebrates one of Ontario's greatest senior teams.
