Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Also still one of the most collectable and collected players in the hobby, offered here is this NHL All-Stars jersey worn by Howe during the "Spirit Returns" exhibition contest on January 25th, 1985 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto that saw alumni from Team Canada's 1972 Summit Series squad take on an All-Star Team of NHL Alumni. A Rawlings made garment, a brand label displaying a size "XL" designation is affixed to the inner collar while has also had "9 Howe" penned to it in black marker ink. Displaying a red velour Rawlings script logo over the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a screened on "All-Stars" team crest while a Molson Export sponsorship patch has been added over the left breast. Displaying white twill stars atop of both shoulders, the reverse of the jersey sports Howe's familiar number "9" in a single layer white twill numeral while "Howe" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed red twill nameplate at the top of the reverse. Having been signed by Howe with a black marker ink signature through the middle of the number on the reverse, the jersey displays with light wear in the form of a few small fabric snags and small spot stains are found throughout the piece.
