Playing his junior hockey as a member of the Weyburn Red Wings in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Bill Lesuk would go on to a professional hockey career that would see him suit up in 388 National Hockey League games with the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals, as well as 318 World Hockey Association games with the Winnipeg Jets. A Stanley Cup champion with the Bruins in 1970, offered here is this Flyers jersey worn by Lesuk circa the 1970-71 campaign. A General Athletic made garment that sports a faded General Athletic/washing instructions tag sewn inside the left hip, the inner collar features both Pearson Sporting Goods and size "46" labeling that have been affixed as well. Decorated over the front with a familiar Flyers team crest made up entirely of embroidered details, the bright orange coloured durene garment has had Lesuk's number "18" sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual tackle twill numerals, with these dual layer tackle twill numerals helping us date the jersey as prior to the 1970-71 season only single layer/colour numbers were utilized. Of note, the numbers on the sleeve were moved down from their original placement and they were originally applied up above the double line of orange stitching. Additionally, in Getty Image #53129286, taken of Lesuk circa the 1970-71 season, you can clearly see that the numbers on his white jersey were also placed higher at some point and were then removed and repositioned lower like on the jersey being offered. Furthermore, a 1970-71 photo of Larry Hillman, who's last year with the Flyers was that same 1970-71 season, he is wearing his white jersey and you can see that the number on the left sleeve was once in a higher position and then repositioned lower. Exhibiting good game-wear, stick marks are present over the front and left sleeve while board burns/scrapes are observed over both sleeves as well with the heaviest concentration over the left one. Also showing a small board burn over the lower reverse, board paint transfer marks are present on the left sleeve and fabric runs are dotted over both the left sleeve and lower reverse. Finally, there is puckering on the interior behind both the front crest and reverse numbers and light pilling/fraying throughout as well.
