Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Featuring a checklist that consisted of 264 total cards and a separate production from the Topps set found south of the border, the 1977 O-Pee-Chee baseball set is found heavily loaded with a number of players from the native Expos & Blue Jays, making their 1977 OPC team sets superior to the ones issued by their American cousin. Printed later than the Topps cards, giving OPC the opportunity to update the teams and airbrush the hats of the free agents and traded players offered here is this collection of baseball cards from O-Pee-Chee's 1977 release that totals north of 1100, enough to make four (4) or five (5) near sets/complete sets. With the condition of most of the cards in the collection appearing in the condition ranges of EX to EX-MT and EX-MT to NM, it is worth mentioning that there are a small quantity of lower grade offerings scattered throughout and that many of the cards display the typical centering issues that O-Pee-Chee made cards of the era are known for. Including numerous doubles, triples, quadruples and beyond of many of the cards that are present, among the notables that are found throughout are the likes of 6-Ryan/Seaver (x6 - one is around EX), 37-Yastrzemski (x4), 65-Ryan (x3 - one is off-center), 80-Palmer (x3), 93-Carlton (x4), 100-Bench (x4 - three are off-center), 143-Carew (x8 - two are off-center), 156-Winfield (x3 - one is off-center), 170-Brett (x4 - one is closer to EX to EX-MT), 204-Yount (x3 - one is closer to VG), 205-Seaver (x5 - one is closer to EX due to fading), 240-Rose (x6 - one is off-center), 245-Schmidt (x2 - one is closer to EX to EX-MT) and 264-Ryan Record Breaker (x5 - one is off-center). Showcasing the first cardboard appearance of the newly minted Toronto Blue Jays and with the rest of the stars in the checklist in a condition consistent with the rest of the collection, don't miss out on this bevy of vintage baseball cardboard for your all-important collection!
