Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Extremely popular throughout the mid-century, table top hockey games allowed youth to partake in realistic rink action minus the skates. We have a circa late-1940s/early-50s Munro example (with accompanying box) constructed of metal and wood, measuring approx 37 1/2" x 14 1/2", with all wooden milk bottle-shaped player pins intact along with the knitted nets. The playing surface remains in overall in good but worn condition and could likely benefit from a good cleaning/wipe down. The edges/sides of the table top activity show some wear as well in the form of marks and nicks as well as a small cracked off piece of wood near the bottom of one side. Appearing fully functional, the metal components have rusted over time. Accompanied by the original instructions sheet, none of the original ball bearings serving as pucks as present. The original shipping box shows expected wear, with the affixed tattered label along the top revealing that the game originated from Eaton’s store in Moncton. A true surviving relic reminding us of how far our ability to consume the game has come over time, don't miss out on this one!
