Going undrafted after four productive years with Merrimack College in the highly competitive Hockey East conference of the NCAA, Mark Cornforth would go on to play a total of six (6) National Hockey League games with the Boston Bruins in 1995-96. Offered here, is this Bruins jersey worn by Cornforth during the 1997-98 pre-season. Left over stock from the 1996-97 season based on the Starter logo and NHL shield combo that have been embroidered into the rear hem, Center Ice, Starter and size “54-R” labeling have been affixed to the inner collar with the size tag also displaying a handwritten number “40” as well in thin black ink. Decorated over the front with the familiar spoked “B” Bruins crest in layered tackle twill, matching alternate logo patches have been added over each shoulder as well. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Cornforth’s number “40” in layered tackle twill numerals, “Cornforth” is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game-wear for its limited use, stick marks are seen over both sleeves, the lower front, through the front crest and through the reverse number “0” while board burns are present over both sleeves as well. Sporting a pair of unrepaired holes at the left elbow, a few fabric snags are observed throughout along with staining at the right cuff and the left side of the front hem. With light pilling on the interior, a Bruins COA denoting the jersey as being from the 1997-98 season will accompany the item.
