Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The write-up on the back of the card mentions how hockey “people” expected Darryl Sittler to become a superstar and how he made the Maple Leafs in his first try, after a 42-goal, 90-point season in his last year of junior with the London Knights. Toronto’s leader for close to a decade, Darryl scored 36 or more goals for eight straight years, with his heroic 6-goal, 4-assist night coming at Maple Leaf Gardens Saturday, February 7, 1976 in an 11-4 drubbing of the Bruins. Sittler was also a Canadian hero, scoring the winning goal in the inaugural Canada Cup tournament in 1976 – what a year! This Sittler card is graded a VG-EX 4 by Beckett which gave the signature a "Beckett 10 Autograph" grade.
