The Topps company’s glorious start to its hockey card career is represented here, with the popping colors of its inaugural issue always a treat to behold and complete 60-card ensemble paced by SGC graded examples of four (4) of the biggest cards in the set. Starting with the graded cards, card #8 of "Mr. Hockey", Gordie Howe, leads the way in terms of importance with this copy earning a mark of VG-EX 4 after inspection by the graders while New York Rangers goalie, Lorne "Gump" Worsley displays a slightly better mark of VG-EX+ 4.5 over its label. With a copy of card #41 of Allen Stanley representing the condition leader of the group, sporting a grade of EX-MT+ 6.5 for its efforts, the last slabbed offering sees the card of Terry Sawchuk having been holdered and deemed "AUTHNETIC" by the graders, who gave it no numerical grade due to the card having been altered based on their findings but displaying beautifully overall. Additionally, the holders for all four (4) cards remain in good condition with only a few small scratches/scuffs from handling to make mention of. For the rest of the set, found to be mostly in the overall uniform condition ranges of G to VG and VG to VG-EX throughout, the notable cards include those of 1-Gamble (GOOD - border and corner wear plus a line dent), 3-Howell (G to VG - very slight wrinkles at the bottom right), 5-Kelly (G to VG - corner wear), 18-Mohns (GOOD - light crease and corner wear), 20-Gadsby (GOOD - corner crease at top right), 26-Rollins (GOOD - wear to left left and bottom right corners), 32-C. Henry (G to VG - surface dent at top middle), 37-J. Henry (G to VG - bottom left and top right corners), 39-Delvecchio (FR to G - surface and corner damage), 51-Lindsay (G to VG - left border dent), 54-Mosienko (G to VG - light wrinkle at top middle and corner damage) and 60-Schmidt (FR to G - corner, border and surface wear). For the rest of the set, the breakdown of conditions includes; two (2) cards seen as VG-EX to EX, seventeen (17) cards seen as VG to VG-EX, twenty-one (21) cards seen as G to VG, three (3) cards seen as FR to G and one (1) card seen as PR to F.
