Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

Enjoying being crowned "Clarence Campbell Bowl Champions" during the late-1990s, the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in three seasons earned that honour. The team also capped off a fine season by continuing through into the Stanley Cup Finals and capturing their first Stanley Cup in over 40 years. The Wings rolled over the Colorado Avalanche for the right to be crowned Champions of the Western Conference in 1996-97. This personal miniature of the Campbell trophy was presented to long-time Red Wings head athletic trainer John Wharton. His name and title, engraved on one side of the handled bowl, is joined by "Detroit Red Wings 1996-97", while the name of the trophy and its 1968 year of inception are engraved on the opposite side. Silver-plated keepsake sits atop a six-sided 3-inch high wooden base and is in excellent condition with tarnishing in areas, especially where the trophy is mounted to the base and to the handles. Originating from the personal collection of John Wharton, the trophy will be accompanied by an LOA and the original Boffey storage/carry bag.
