Menacing the opposition with forays from his crease to intercept advancing players, Ron Hextall exhibited early that he wasn’t one to be messed with, with the superstar netminder especially skilled at both the physical aspect of the game and his controlled handling of the puck. A winner of 296 games in his National Hockey League career, offered here, we present this chest protector used by Hextall during the mid-to-late-1990s as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. A Vaughn Vision VP3500 model chest and arm body suit in a white colour throughout its entirety, a Vaughn wordmark logo is embroidered in black and orange into the collar while additional Vaughn logos are found embroidered into the collarbone protectors as well along with a "Hextall" identifier. Having had tape added both elbow areas and displaying with excellent game-wear, sweat staining is observed throughout the entirety of the piece as well as rust stains over the lower front. Also showing numerous frays and small tears from repeated and heavy use, additional rust coloured stains are seen over the reverse of the belly pad and the arms.
Also coming with a stick used by Hextall in the same era, the Sher-Wood made 950 SOP model twig shows "Hextall 27" stamped to the upper shaft while a factory production code stamp is seen on the reverse side of the upper shaft as well. Retaining its original tape job of white over the handle/knob and blade over the entirety of the blade, heel and lower shaft, the stick remains free from any cracks or breaks and shows evidence of use through puck marks over the paddle and blade tape as well as some red post paint transfer marks on the backside of the upper shaft. Having been signed by Hextall over the upper paddle on the forehand side with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue, don't miss out on this pair of items used by one of the most notable goalies of the 1980s and 1990s.
