Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/1/2024
Far less often seen than O-Pee-Chee hockey cards from the same season are these posters from the 1971-72 season that were released by O-Pee-Chee, which came attached, two to a pack and which are supposed to measure just under 10” by just under 18”. Featuring the two dozen biggest stars of the day including Bobby Orr, Ken Dryden, Jacques Plante, Guy Lafleur, Tim Horton, Bobby Hull and others, this lot offers a complete set of 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee posters totalling 24. All cut from uncut sheets with the posters that were on the left of the uncut sheets having the color printing codes on their left edges, the included examples seem to measure out to an average size of roughly 18 1/2" x 12" for those that were on the left hand side while those that were on the right are just slightly smaller in both length and width. Remaining in overall good condition despite some instances of hastily cut edges and even toning that is seen as being between light and moderate throughout, other things worth pointing out that are observed on some of the posters in the assembly include liquid stains, small edge tears and fold lines/creases. For the more desirable examples of Orr, Dryden, Lafleur and Esposito, the Orr example shows the colours coding at the left hand side as well as some light creases near the edges and a couple of very small edge tears, the Dryden shows the colour codes along the left edge as well as uneven quickly cut edges at the top and right side plus a couple of small edge tears and what seem to be pin holes, the Lafleur shows a 2" tear to its right border along with some light creases and the colour codes at the left edge plus a torn bottom edge that doesn't affect the image and finally, the Esposito shows some light corner creases, an uneven left edge, a couple of small edge tears and a torn/quickly cut bottom right corner that doesn't affect the image.
