The first sci-fi television series to captivate audiences, Star Trek used social commentary that people could relate to and in turn, created a cult following that has only grown stronger throughout the franchises 56-year existence. With the original run of there show running between 1966 and 1969, Leaf Trading Cards would get in on the popularity of the series with their 1967 "Star Trek" release, which is offered here in complete set form. Featuring a total of 72-cards within its checklist, the group is found to be in the overall condition range of EX to EX-MT with a small quantity a bit better and presenting closer to EX-MT to NM for their efforts as well. With each card picturing a different black-and-white in-character depiction of the crew of the USS Enterprise, including series star William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock, and DeForest Kelley as Dr. McCoy, a descriptive blurb about the scene is printed in white lettering against a black border along the bottom of each card. In terms of condition break down, one (1) card is seen as being in a lower grade state with corner wear/dings, stains and creases, sixteen (16) show a print line down the middle and thirty (30) show paper loss/bad damage at the side border. With Leaf producing the set before they were granted final contractual permission, this was denied to the company and they were forced to destroy a vast inventory earmarked for commercial distribution, making this an overall desirable vintage non-sport release.
