Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Released during a season that saw the Winnipeg Blue Bombers win their fourth (4th) Grey Cup championship in a span of five (5) years and the second (2nd) of back-to-back titles, all four (4) Cup wins between 1958 and 1962 would come over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Considered to be the ninth (9th) season in modern-day Canadian football, although it is officially the fifth (5th) Canadian Football League season, offered here is this uncut sheet of Topps' 1962 CFL football release that features a total of 264 cards in all. Extremely fragile and measuring out to roughly 43" x 28", a complete set includes a total of 169 cards. Missing eleven (11) cards for a complete set, those missing include 89-Learn, 97-Conroy, 105-Poirier, 113-Ottawa Rough Riders, 121-Dundas, 129-Smith, 137-Mann, 145-Shatto, 153-Gray, 161-Piper and 169-Winnipeg Blue Bombers. With cards 1-88 appearing twice on the sheet, it is worthy of note that card #1 of By Bailey appears a total of five (5) times and cards #2 through #6 inclusively appearing three (3) times each. Remaining in an overall good condition and sure to be an excellent conversation starter when properly displayed, the sheet shows wear to the edges and corners as well as creasing, a few small tears/dents to the edges, a couple of small paper loss spots and a small number of small stains/foxing spots.
