Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Perhaps the greatest player the game of hockey and the National Hockey League has ever seen, Mario Lemieux needs no introduction. During the 1980s and 1990s, he was the only one capable of holding a candle with the likes of Wayne Gretzky and his greatness. Leading the league in points for the 1996-97 campaign with a total of 122 points in 76 games played, including 50 goals, Lemieux announced on April 6th, 1997, that he planned to retire following that year's playoffs. A two-time Stanley Cup champion as a player, two (2) Art Ross Trophies, a Hart Trophy and two (2) Conn Smythe Trophies. Offered here is a collection of Lemieux cards starting with a 1986-87 OPC #122 graded a NM-MT 8 and 1987-88 Topps #15 graded a MT 9. Next are four OPCs, including a 1987-88 #1 graded as EX-NM 6, 1988-89 #1 graded as NM+ 7.5, and two 1989-90 #1s graded as NM-MT+ 8.5 and MT 9. Lastly, three Topps include a 1986-87 #122 EX-NM+ 6.5, 1988-89 #1 NM-MT+ 8.5, and 1989-90 #1 NM-MT+ 8.5. All cards are graded by the graders at SGC.
