Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
A condition sensitive set due to its black coloured borders, the 1971 O-Pee-Chee baseball release mirrors the set released south of the border by Topps but is seen as being far rarer due to the far fewer cards that were produced. Offered here, we present this 1971 O-Pee-Chee baseball "Rookie Stars" card of Dusty Baker, Tom Paciorek and Don Baylor. With all three (3) men enjoying long professional baseball careers both playing the game and then contributing to it after their retirement, both Baker and Baylor would win World Series championships. Having been graded by KSA, the company has bestowed their mark of NM 7 upon the card, which shows light wear to the borders, which is heaviest at the top edge while the image over the front is a bit off from right-to-left as well. Also showing a bit of corner wear to all four (4) points, the card is housed in a KSA holder that shows light scratches and scuffs over both sides.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
